Huygens Place Amsterdam

Tucked into the eastern edge of Oud-West, Huygens Place puts the Vondelpark practically on the doorstep, perfect for a morning run or a lazy afternoon on the grass. Leidseplein, with its theatres, bars, and live music, is a short walk away, as is Museumplein, home to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. Nearby trams make it quick to reach Dam Square and the historic centre.

Behind a traditional façade, the interiors are bold and modern, with playful design touches. The courtyard garden is a quiet spot away from the city.

Rooms have Auping beds, air conditioning and coffee-making facilities. The Garden Double is one of the most appealing choices. Triple rooms sleep three, and the spacious Souterrain Quadruple sleeps four, useful for families or friends.

The breakfast buffet is generous, with hot dishes, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and Dutch cheeses. There is no restaurant, but Leidseplein and Oud-West have plenty of places to eat.
